Story Boards....

The first of the story boards was our first plan, when we were trying to grasp a general idea on what our title sequence was going to contain. We were looking more at what scenes to include rather than shot types, mise-un-scene, lighting etc.
Our second one is our final draft of our story board at includes all of the scenes we are going to use. It also shows the shot types we  planning to use and the mise-un-scene for the shots. It also shows when we are going to use the titles, how why and where etc.

Title sequence / House hold items

Our titles will appear on household items such as a paint pallete to show her quirky arty side,  a cardboard box as she's just moved house and below; a clock and ketchup label that would be in her kitchen.

Title Sequence Plot

We are sticking with the Romantic comedy theme, and using two main characters Lola, played by me and Jack played by a friend of ours Ed Geary.

We have made the character of Lola very arty and different to set her from the crowd and to make her seem very different from her gorgeous boyfriend Jack.

We have planned to dress her in hippy / arty clothing to give her a geeky weird edge, where as the character of Jack will be a devilishly good looking office man, extremely flirty with all women and very happy in his own skin, sometimes making him look immature.

Jack is constantly cold and blunt towards Lola, making her loving ways seem clingy and needy. She seems to think hes the love of her life, and begins to decorate her new studio flat with pictures of him. Which Jack only sees as another reason to break up with her.

The comedy is shown through Lolas traits and her naivity towards thinking Jack is truely in love with her, and hgow she cannot she that he wants to break up with her. Her style being so far from his well kept business look, also shows the funny side as it clearly shows oppisites don't attract.

During the first few seconds it will picture her in her new flat waiting on Jack to go into town with her. They then are pictured walking along the street of their town of London, whilst Lola seems very content to be together in public with Jack, he seems to have other ideas and looks astray from Lola hung over his arm.

Lola is completely loved up with Jack and thinks he is too...
although he has other ideas and is looking for away to escape as she has the idea in her head Jack wants to move into her new flat with her.

We are going to use a range of mise-en-scene to give the impression of her artistic character and clingy ways. We are also planning on using a range of camera shots of the couple walking and using emotional emphasis to show how upset she is when he finally breaks up with him.

Our titles will appear on items around her house, such as a clock, tomato ketchup bottle and a cardboard box.

Title sequences continued...

Our initial ideas in our group for our title sequence and opening is of the genre, Romantic Comedy. The ideas we will express will be of love, relationships and breakups, the usual traits of the genre. We decided on this genre due to our knowledge and interest in Romantic films. I have watched many 'Rom-Coms' to get a feel for the titles sequences and to see what they include.
Usually red text quite subtle whilst the start of the movie plays.
this would be good to use in our title sequence as its sophisticated and reflects the genre of the film.

Although, some romantic comedies start with animated title sequences, like the Back Up Plan...

This sets the scene a little more as it shows she lives in a big city, and as the sequence goes on it shows how the female character is starting to get more and more broody, showing the film will contain a woman who wants a baby. But without giving the whole film away.
